What to expect from the Algarve?
First
of all - a lot of sun!
In accordance with the climatic table, the Algarve
is the corner of Europe with the sunniest days
of all, and we can confirm that it is true. Winter
only exists in the calendar. The rain falls between
November and April, and during these months it
can get cold too. During daytime sometimes only
15oC to 16oC, and at night the thermometer can
drop down to 3oC or 4oC.
The Algarve stretches along the south of Portugal
from the Spanish border to Sagres - the most south-westerly
part of Europe, and has the most picturesque coastline.
The south-coast of the Algarve offers miles and
miles of sandy beaches. On the west coast there
are rock cliffs and sheltered beaches.
In the countryside you'll find lovely garden
scenery and much natural unspoilt countryside.
The mountain of "Monchique", with its unusual
vegetation, crowns the whole Algarve.
What else?
Apart
from the nature and excellent weather, the Algarve
has much more to offer: There are 4 Water Slide
Parks, the "Zoo-Marine" in Albufeira - a leisure-park
with dolphins and sharks.
Go-Car-Tracks…-not next to your house…; and many
different types of boat trips. From gentle trips
to the grottoes in Lagos, up to power-boats, boat
cruises with the "BOM DIA", a former two-master-salt-freighter…
Water-skiing and fast water rides on banana
boats and rubber rings. Also speedy "catamarans"
are available. The west coast is splendid for
surfing. But, of course, you can just have an
"old-fashioned swim"!
